Needs-based pore analysis
In porosity analysis, we adapt to your needs. What does that mean?
For one thing, our sophisticated and automated CT scan process allows us to check small and large quantities of parts for the presence of significant flaws in a short time. Otherwise, you can also rely on high-resolution, excellently evaluated CT scans that conform to relevant industry and manufacturer standards when it comes to first articel inspection. In any case, you will receive a high level of process reliability and at the same time individual, needs-based evaluations.

Extremely fast & affordable
Typical field of application
- Uncovering focal points of error
- Inspection of blocked lots due to a suspected deviation in a quality characteristic (pores, shrink holes).
- Prophylactic avoidance of refinement of potential rejects, e.g. in the case of pores in machining surfaces

In an automatic process, the test zone is unrolled and inspected for impermissible pores.

Shortly after the CT is unloaded, it is already clear whether the inspected component belongs to the IO or NIO category. This means that the appropriate sorting can also be carried out in the same work step.
Procedure:

Handling dominates the machine occupancy time. For larger quantities, the processes can be further accelerated through automation.
Reliable & individual
Inspection according to the various standards of car manufacturers and associations requires a high-resolution scan data set. The execution is process-safe, standard-compliant and in a practical form of presentation. Reliable statements with clear indication of remaining uncertainties are a matter of course.
Typical field of application
- First article inspection or requalification of components on the basis of relevant standards
- Detailed analysis of focal points of error
- shrinkage cavity and pore analyses on iron and steel castings

Comparison of images from the fast CT and laboratory CT:

In a fast CT scan, microporosity/loosened microstructure are combined to form a pore.

Eine hohe Auflösung ermöglicht detaillierte Aussage zur konkreten Ausprägung der Lunker- bzw. Porengeometrie.

Analysis according to P202 or manufacturer's standard (ZFN 1136, VW 50093)
In addition to the support provided by industry-standard tools, Microvista also works with in-house resources to produce standard-compliant test reports.

In the standard process, all orders are processed within 14 days at the latest.
If the parts do not have a serial number, they are registered with an internal number during part receipt. Both the scan data and the analyses and reports created in subsequent processing steps then refer to this number. This ensures 100% traceability of all work steps. Microvista's quality management system is certified according to ISO 9001/2015 as well as ISO 9100, which is important in the aerospace industry.
Ultimately, the analysis of pores and shrinkage cavities is rarely limited to their mere detection. It is always just as important to quantify their size. As with any other measurement method, the determination of the pore dimension is subject to error. The remaining uncertainty is dependent on a variety of factors, such as
- the attenuation of the X-rays by the material of the component and its dimensions,
- the spatial resolution of the captured and reconstructed image data and
- the image errors (artefacts) that arise due to various physical effects.
Reliable analysis results do not come about on their own, even with the best equipment. In addition to the expertise of the processing staff, established processes for uncertainty assessment are required. In every Microvista porosity analysis you will find reliable statements on the uncertainty assessment of the results presented.

Analysis and evaluation:
- manual 3D pore report per component € 130
- for larger quantities (> 200), an automatic system can be created at short notice from our extensive module library, with which the einspection costs can be reduced to a fraction of the scanning costs!
The above price table is based on the following component geometry:
- max. enveloping circle: d= 500 mm
- max. cumulative wall thickness: 200 mm
- material: plastic or light metal, iron inserts possible
